Biography
Edmund D. Cooke, Jr. is a founding member of the Covenant Christian Community. He, along with his wife, Wilhelmina Reuben Cooke joined founding Pastor Lola Johnson Singletary, Booker Yelder, and Janie Boyd in forming Covenant in 1978. His legal expertise was invaluable in helping the church develop its Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws.
Ed is an attorney whose practice is focused on the areas of labor and employment law, including diversity compliance, equal employment opportunity, and affirmative action advice and counsel. His professional experience has led him from the halls of the U.S. Capitol to various U.S. Courts of Appeals to the Deputy Directorship of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Office of Field Services. Currently, Ed is the founder and Principal of the Cooke Legal Group, LLC.
Ed holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School. In addition, he has a Master’s degree in International Public Policy (MIPP) from Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.
Ed is a former Captain in the U.S. Air Force, and the father of two daughters, Wilhelmina Nilaja Cooke and Shani Malika Cooke, who currently resides in Nevada.
